Ruskin
- French for red hair.

I chose the name Ruskin as I love "R" names. And for what ever reason this name jives with my k9 gang. It is ironic that our first breeding will be with our “Rich Red Head” Rumeur so I guess the name was in the cards.

Ruskin - a young kennel breeding for well-diversified canine companions. Our main emphasis is on performance sports with out sacrificing structure, temperament, health and type.

All our k9's are family companions first and foremost!  All participate in agility, obedience, conformation and Rumeur in herding (when time permits). We believe dogs need jobs.

We started out with our first miniature poodle Rukus in basic obedience, which quickly lead to competitive obedience. Then the purchase of our second little one Ryott, who we specifically bought to keep Rukus entertained when we were at work. She dazzled us with her awesome performances in the obedience ring.  With Ryott we thought we would  try the conformation ring and put a Championship on her (of course we started with a breed that required a ton of grooming before and after showing - talk about jumping in with two feet). We then added to our sporting profile a keen interest in agility. As anyone knows who tries this sport we got hooked - line and sinker. Participating in the agility game gave us and the dogs so much pleasure it lead us to seek a more driven breed of dog and the purchase of Rumeur (our first Belgian Tervuren).

With these 3 dogs we have learned so much and have had great success in the various sports we have chosen to participate in.  It is definitely hard work and takes dedication. We have learned that “what you put into your k9 companion you will get back ten fold” Training needs to be fun for both parties and made into a life lasting game.
